Workshops, support groups and one-on-one therapy, counselling and coaching – across two distinct areas where individuals may want help.
CONTEXT
Areas of Struggle
In the course of everybody’s life, we confront many different areas in which we might find ourselves struggling. It could be that we struggle with:
Our inner selves — our emotions, thoughts, behaviors, feelings; feeling overwhelmed by life; struggling to be my true self; comfortably and fully realizing my talents and potential
Life events — relationships not working; a family break-up; becoming a blended family, dealing with serious illness or death, addiction or substance abuse
Self-initiated changes — career change, moving to a new city or country, retirement
Rites of passage — graduation, marriage, parenting, empty nest challenges, retirement, aging
Whatever our struggle might be, the best way forward usually requires us to work in a number of dimensions:
- Direct personal support to identify and work through what is happening within us
- Opportunity to understand the general nature and factors at play in the situation itself
- Small group support, affirmation and shared learning from peers or others dealing with similar challenges

Building High-Performance Individuals

& Synergistic Teams
MAKING CHANGE HAPPEN IN ACADEMIC & TEAM PERFORMANCE
Helping every individual find their zone — and every team find its collective power.
School principals, team managers and team coaches frequently struggle to know how best to help individuals achieve high performance efforts and results, both individually and collectively. Individuals within their school or team tend to reflect one or more of the following circumstances:
Performance Profiles
⭐ Confident “Star” Performers
Confident and comfortable in achieving sustained high-performance results, but vulnerable to succumbing to pressure or temptation — pressure to maintain standards and meet expectations, or temptation to overestimate their invincibility and be seduced into exciting but destructive activities.
😟 Anxious Performers
Delivering good or great performance but anxious and insecure. Haunted by a fear of failure that constrains the achievement of their full potential.
😐 Casual Performers
Delivering good results but seemingly indifferent to the actual outcomes. Appear to be not invested or committed and not producing all of what they could do.
😰 Desperate Performers
Uncertainty about what they could produce, anxiously keen to be seen as delivering what is needed but deeply undermined by self-doubt, anxiety, and possible exposure as “imposters”.
😤 Frustrated Performers
Desire or willingness to contribute and deliver, but not really a fit with the skills, interests, attitudes, or circumstances needed.
🔍 Undiscovered Performers
Potential performers who have not yet been identified and engaged. Living at the margins or outside of the mainstream group.
What Is “The Zone”?
Flow State — Optimal Experience (Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi).

- Complete absorption in the task — no awareness of time passing
- Effortless concentration, without having to “try” to focus
- Loss of self-consciousness; the inner critic goes quiet
- A sense of clarity about what needs to be done next

- Intrinsic enjoyment of the activity itself, not the outcome
- A feeling of control without strain
- Calm energisation — alert but not anxious

- Actions feel automatic and fluid
- Mistakes are noticed and corrected without distress
- Output often exceeds normal baseline quality

- Challenge level closely matches skill level — too easy breeds boredom, too hard breeds anxiety
- Clear goals with immediate feedback
- Removal of distractions (internal and external)
- Genuine interest or care about the task
The paradox of flow: You generally can’t force it by wanting it directly. It arrives as a byproduct of preparation, the right conditions, and letting go of outcome-focus. Many describe entering flow as a kind of “disappearing” — the self steps aside and the work just moves through you. It shows up in athletes, musicians, surgeons, coders, writers, and anyone deeply engaged in a craft.
As a school principal or team coach, the challenge is to know how best to help:
- Individuals to maximise talent and potential, and to build the social and emotional attributes (emotional wellbeing) needed for comfortably and authentically being “in the zone”
- Teams to become a genuinely synergistic high-performance team, that also provides the necessary context for individual emotional wellbeing
The Integrated Programme
In response to the above, ChangeRMC offers an integrated programme including the following components, which can be contracted separately or as an integrated package that can be amended or extended as needed. Programme components include:
Example Integrated Package
A sample package for a team of 10 to 15 persons with 5 members needing particular one-on-one support would consist of:
- Individual support for 5 persons — In-depth series of 5 sixty-minute one-on-one conversations with each person enabling each individual to discover and acknowledge the factors contributing to their circumstance
- Coaching sessions for 5 persons — Ongoing 30-minute weekly coaching sessions for 5 weeks for each of 5 persons to reinforce the individual’s ability to build and maintain social and emotional wellness
- Peer support group — A series of five 90-minute facilitated peer group sessions with 5 to 12 participants – sharing experiences, exploring lessons learned, building belonging and acceptance, feeling understood and supported.
- Supportive context (8 hours) — Engaging, aligning, and integrating contributions from parents, mentors, key influencers, and partners
- High-performance team session — 4-hour team building workshop including team building activities and aligning individual needs and aspirations with those of the team; ensuring team culture, processes and metrics support mental & emotional wellbeing and optimal performance
